Commercial Manager - Gas, Water, Electrics Utilities - Whitworth, Lancashire
As part of this role you would be expected to take the lead in the professional development of the incumbent commercial team in line with the company’s retention policy. In addition to this you will be responsible for the effective commercial control of the company’s activities and will play a key role in tender appraisal. Bid strategy and adjudication ensuring commercial opportunity is optimised. This client would also expect their Commercial Manager to identify commercial threats to the business and ensure debt/WIP is kept to an absolute minimum.

The Commercial Manager is part of the management team responsible for the development of CLIENT’s GIRS business operation.

The Commercial Manager is responsible for the procurement, management and co-ordination of all utility work and maintenance of the GIRS registration schemes.

The Commercial Manager will work closely with the Technical Advisors on all GIRS related matters.

Qualifications and Skills

My client is looking for the following attributes in their Commercial Manager:

A proven track record in a strategic senior commercial role, particularly within the utilities industry or similar related sector.

Experience of demonstrating responsibility for full Contract Management at this level.

Experience either working as a Commercial Manager or a significant amount of Senior / Managing Quantity Surveying experience to be considered for this post.

Demonstrable experience of working closely with operational teams to agree budgets, enhance profitability through tangible action plans and evidence of developing and mentoring a team of commercial staff within the company.

Excellent interpersonal skills and deliver effective interaction with all members of the Company’s Senior Management Teams.

The ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with key stakeholders and ensure best practice prevails throughout the Company’s activities.

You may have experience of the following: Commercial lead, Budget and Forecasting, Commercial Management, Project Strategy, Commercial Issues, Quantity Surveying, Fit out, Construction, Procurement, Risk Management, Asset Capitalisation.

Minimum 5 years relevant contractual and managerial experience

Extensive knowledge of safety, quality, audit and company procedures, legislation and industry best practice Record of effective co-ordination of works with clients (gas new connections experience preferred)
